Fresno State will celebrate the theme “We Are Bulldogs” during Homecoming Week Oct. 5-11 with daily events — including the Associated Students Inc. T-shirt exchange program and campus decorating contests — before the football game against Utah State Oct. 10 at Bulldog Stadium.

Among the highlights of Homecoming Week is the Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at the Save Mart Center, where local author and education administratorArmen Derian Bacon will be honored along with 13 other outstanding alumni. For students, the excitement peaks at the Homecoming Student Tailgate at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 at the Beiden Field concourse (across from Bulldog Stadium student entrance). Students can receive a free Homecoming T-shirt and enjoy food (first come, first serve), drinks and the Fan Zone. Students should bring their valid student ID to the tailgate.  

For the community, the second annual Red Wave Run will be Sunday, Oct. 11, with the registration deadlineat midnight Oct. 8.

The week’s activities will be promoted at noon daily when Fight Varsity, the Bulldogs fight song, plays on the University’s carillon in the University Student Union clock tower.

Beginning Monday with theT-Shirt exchange program, students can swap their old high school or other college shirts for a new Fresno State T-shirt by taking it to the Associated Students Inc. office in the University Student Union (Room 316).  

The program is designed to increase Bulldog spirit among students and replace shirts worn from other campuses. All swapped apparel will be donated to the Pink Cow Thrift Store at Wesley United Methodist Church at the end of the semester.

On Bulldog Wednesday Oct. 7, students wearing Bulldogs gear can win free ice cream and prizes at the University Student Union balcony from noon-1:30 p.m.

Also during Homecoming Week, campus offices and student organization booths will participate in decorating contests. Displays will be judged based on their bold, creative and spirited use of the theme “We Are Bulldogs.”  

The winner of the office decorating contest will receive the Bulldog Award at the faculty and staff Red Friday rally from 9-10 a.m. Oct. 9 in the University Student Union pavilion.

The winner of the booth decorating contest, which will be announced at the student tailgate, will win $500 for student organization activities.

Also, the Kennel Bookstore will have a week-long sale with all apparel and select gifts at 20 percent off.

·         National Student Day is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 in front of the Kennel Bookstore celebrating the students at Fresno State with service projects, games and giveaways.

·         The Nick Watney Invitational will be Oct. 5-6 at the Fort Washington Country Club, hosted by Fresno State men’s golf. Tee times will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday and 8-9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

·         Women’s volleyball takes on Nevada at 7 p.m. Thursday and San Diego State at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Save Mart Center.

·         On Sunday, Fresno State’s track and field program will present the Red Wave Run at Bulldog Stadium. The 5K race begins at 7:15 a.m.; the kids’ race starts at 8 a.m. The cost is $40 for the 5K and $15 for the kids’ (9 and under) quarter mile. Register Online.
