Fresno Community Chorus Master Chorale is seeking singers for all voice parts for spring 2016 performances. Auditions will be scheduled by appointment between Jan. 11-14.

The chorus will celebrate its 60th season Sunday, March 6, at Shaghoian Concert Hall (Clovis North High School) with a concert that includes Bach’s “Christ Lag in Todesbanden,” Vaughan Williams’ “Toward the Unknown Region” and a new commission by Joungmin Sur with text by Glad Ruiz.

On Sunday, April 24, the chorus will perform Prokofiev’s “Alexander Nevsky” with Theodore Kuchar and the Fresno Philharmonic at Saroyan Theatre in downtown Fresno.

Fresno Community Chorus Master Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Anna Hamre, has toured in recent years in Austria, the Czech Republic, China, England and Italy. The chorus has performed twice at Carnegie Hall, and traveled to Greece this past June.

The 180-person membership includes Central Valley physicians, lawyers, teachers, students, retirees and homemakers, as well as professional musicians and music educators.

Singers interested in becoming members are encouraged to set up a short audition. People auditioning should bring any short piece (including a hymn tune) and sheet music.

For more information, or to schedule an audition, contact Hamre in January at ahamre@csufresno.edu or 559.278.2539 or visit www.fresnocommunitychorus.org.
