Fresno State’s CineCulture Film Series and Fresno Filmworks present the 2016 “Oscar-Nominated Short FilmsFeb. 12 and 13 at the Tower Theatre (815 E. Olive Ave.). For the 11th consecutive year, Filmworks will host a special screening of all 15 Academy Award nominees in the animation, live action and documentary categories. This year’s nominees represent 14 countries and 11 languages. The event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. Friday with the live action category followed by animation at 8:30 p.m. Filmworks has invited more than 300 students from across the city to attend the screenings for free: digital media students from Sunnyside High School and Fresno High School; film studies students from Fresno Pacific University; and CineCulture students from Fresno State. Tickets to single programs cost $10 general admission and $8 for students and seniors. A special $15 double-feature ticket is available for any two programs.
