Fresno State will hold public hearings today and Thursday in Fresno and on Tuesday in Visalia on its proposal to expand the list of “local area” transfer schools.

The Fresno hearings will be at 3 p.m. Monday and 6 p.m. Thursday, both in the Alice Peters Auditorium of the University Business Center at Fresno State. The Visalia hearing will be at 4 p.m. in Ponderosa 350 Lecture Room at College of the Sequoias.

The University seeks permission from the California State University system to add Clovis Community College, Porterville College, Hartnell Community College (Salinas) and Allan Hancock Community College (Santa Maria) as designated “local area” transfer schools.

Beginning in 2017-18 when additional admission criteria will be required for Fresno State applicants, local area students will have a lower admissions threshold than non-local applicants.
