Advance online registration is now open for urban and indoor plant and nursery classes led by Calliope Correia, Fresno State horticulture unit manager, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10 and 17, at the Fresno State Downtown Center in the Bitwise South Stadium (700 Van Ness Ave.). Each class is $35 and open to the public. The March 10 “People-Plant Connection: Do You Need More Nature in Your Life?” class will focus on developing a deeper awareness of the natural world and how plants and nature benefit experiences. The class will explore ways to incorporate nature into daily life for a more technology-based society. The March 17 “Small Space, Urban and Indoor Gardening” class will give tips on raising plants indoors, including in inhospitable environments, and outdoors in small spaces (patios, small vegetable gardens). Included will be an overview of types of plants, pots and soil. INFO: Fresno State Division of Continuing and Global Education at http://fresnostate.edu/cge/professional/downtown/smallspace.html.
