Fresno State volunteers raised a record $47,630.47 March 8 for Valley Children’s Hospital Kids Day, with the Army ROTC finishing as the top selling student organization. The fundraiser, held at intersections Valley-wide, set a record for total funds raised with $591,559. Approximately 1,400 volunteers participated at the Fresno State sites around campus, said Trisha Studt, community partnerships coordinator for the Jan and Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning. The majority of the volunteers were students, with 56 clubs, organizations, sororities and fraternities represented. Their combined efforts exceeded last year’s total $43,479.47. Overall, the Army ROTC gathered the most donations with $7,603. Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity was second overall with sales of $2,890.60 and Sigma Phi Epsilon was third with $2,397.38. Many campus offices also contribute to the success of Kids Day such as Auxiliary Accounting, Enrollment Services, Facilities Maintenance and University Police. ASI provided donuts, coffee and water to participants. INFO: Studt at 559.278.7508
