The March Match Up campaign raised $106,435 for the Student Cupboard, including the $50,000 seed donation by Fresno-based accounting firm Morse Wittwer Sampson, LLP that launched the drive March 1. Donations were received from individuals, organizations and businesses throughout the Valley during the 31-day campaign designed to generate interest from the recent March Madness basketball playoffs. Donors challenged each other by videotaping themselves tossing a basketball to their challengee, similar to last summer’s ALS Water Bucket pledge campaign. Those videos are available at http://bit.ly/MarchMatchupVideos. The campaign not only exceeded its $50,000 matching goal but donations are still coming in, said Mary Castro, wife of University President Joseph Castro, who spearheaded the drive.
