Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro will visit Bethesda Apostolic Church at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, April 17, to encourage youth to pursue higher education. Castro was originally scheduled to talk in February as part of the CSU Super Sunday campaign that month but postponed due to illness. Fresno State officials spoke at several local churches during the three-week CSU African-American Initiative project that focuses on college achievement for African-American students throughout the state. The initiative is a partnership between CSU campuses and African-American leaders who are dedicated to increasing the number of students who attend and graduate from college. The CSU has formed many other partnerships aimed at increasing college opportunities, including initiatives for Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders, Latinos and Native Americans. Original release.
