Dr. Larissa Mercado-Lopez of Women’s Studies, Imelda SantaCruz-Dudley of Graduate Net Initiative and Dr. Cristina Herrera of Chicano and Latin American Studies.

The final spring installment of the Latinas in Academia Lecture Series, “Forging Paths to Graduate School and Beyond,” will feature Dr. Cristina Herrera and Elizabeth Mosqueda from 2-3 p.m. Thursday, April 21 in the University Student Union pavilion (lower level).

Herrera, an associate professor of Chicano and Latin American studies and history, will present “Father’s Tontitas, Mother’s Chicana: Chicana Strength and Resilience in Academia and Beyond.”

Mosqueda, a graduate student in plant science (vegetation management), will present “La Cientifica.”

A Q-and-A session will follow both presentations.

The lecture series is presented by the Graduate Net Initiative in collaboration with the Women’s Studies Program and the Division of Graduate Studies to showcase the challenges and successes of Latinas in higher education. The series will continue next academic year.
