The Women’s Art and Musical Festival will be held from 4-10 p.m., Friday, May 6 at the Tower Theatre (815 E. Olive Ave.) to celebrate the talent of local women in art and music and create awareness of gender-based violence. The festival will also raise funds for Women’s Studies student internships with Rape Counseling Services (RCS) of Fresno. RCS’s mission is to end sexual violence and empower survivors, while supporting safe, consensual relationships. The agency provides a 24-hour crisis line serving all of Fresno County. Interns serve a crucial role in providing resources like counseling and community referrals, and accompany survivors through the hospital and/or court processes. Paid-internships would allow for continual services and aid students who are looking for professional experience. Tickets for the festival are priced at $5 for students and $10 for general admission, and can be purchased at the Tower Theatre box office.
