Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro ordered the University flags be posted at half-staff Sunday, May 15, in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day in keeping with the national commemoration proclaimed by President Barack Obama “as a sign of respect to those in law enforcement who have lost their lives while serving to protect our communities.” Also, May 15 to 21 is National Police Week. “The University community extends its gratitude and appreciation for the service provided by the officers and staff of the Fresno State Police Department as well as law enforcement forces throughout our four-county service area – Fresno, Kings, Tulare and Madera – and our entire nation,” Castro said.
