The Theatre Arts Department at Fresno State will begin casting for the fall 2016 semester at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23. The fall productions will be: “Hands Up: 7 Playwrights, 7 Testaments” (Sept. 30 to Oct. 8), examining police violence in the African-American community; “Tar Beach” (Oct. 28 to Nov. 5) captures a summer in the 1970s with the Son of Sam on the loose; and “Passion Play: Part 1 and 2” (Dec. 2 to Dec. 10), in which Elizabethan England and Nazi Germany attempt to stage the death and resurrection of Christ.
