A screening of the film “Waking in Oak Creek” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14 in North Gym 118 at Fresno State opens the Leon S. Peters Ethics Lecture Series fall semester line-up. The 34-minute documentary depicts a deadly terrorist attack that resulted in the death of six innocent Sikh worshippers in the community of Oak Creek and the reaction of residents and law enforcement officials. A panel discussion will follow the screening with representatives from the United States Attorney’s Office, Fresno State Ethics Center, Sikh Council of Central California, Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno, Fresno Police Department, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, Fresno County District Attorney’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Representatives of the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society and Fresno State’s Department of Criminology will also attend. The screening is sponsored by the College of Social Sciences, Sikh Council of Central California and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California.
