Fresno State’s American English Institute is working with the Fresno Police Department to provide functional Spanish classes to police cadets. Spanish for Law Enforcement is a free, six-week program in which student teachers meet with police academy cadets for three hours a week to practice functional Spanish for communication with Fresno’s Spanish speaking  community. A second six-week course is scheduled to begin Sept. 21 for returning cadets. Spanish for Law Enforcement is currently a pilot program but the institute is looking to expand the program to other police departments. INFO: Cheryl Chan at 559.278.2097.
