Dr. Frank R. Lamas, vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Fresno State, was recognized as a 2016 NASPA Pillar of the Profession awardee. The prestigious award recognizes outstanding members of student affairs and higher education nationally. Lamas has more than 30 years of experience as a student affairs educator, leader and practitioner. He has served on the NASPA board of directors since 2011. In 2015, he became the first Latino to chair NASPA, one of the leading associations for the advancement, health and sustainability of the student affairs profession. Each year the NASPA Foundation recognizes distinguished individuals who have served as leaders, teachers and scholars. Each individual is nominated by colleagues, students, friends or others who find him or her deserving of this honor. In the nominee’s name, a gift of $2,500 is made to the foundation to further research and scholarship in student affairs.
