The final event in the Provost Awards Lecture Series for the fall semester will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. today (Nov. 10) in the Henry Madden Library, Room 2206. The series recognizes Fresno State faculty honored by Provost Lynnette Zelezny for their achievements and impact on Fresno State. This closing event features the recipients of the Promising New Faculty award recipients:  Drs. Larissa Mercado-Lopez, Bhupinder Singh, Cathy Yun and Lisa Bennett. Mercado-Lopez’s lecture, “Doing Work That Mat(t)ers: How Empowered Mothers Make Empowered Faculty,” details how her experience as a mother/scholar positively affected her teaching, service and relationships with colleagues; Singh’s lecture, “Broadening the Scope of Health Care Students: Challenges and Opportunities of the Central Valley,” discusses the importance of addressing Valley health care needs.
