The National Society of Collegiate Scholars recognized its Fresno State unit as a Gold Star Chapter for 2015-16. The society provides career and graduate school connections, leadership and service opportunities and awards $1 million dollars in scholarships annually. Members must have a minimum of 3.4 GPA in their first year of college. The society is one of three honors societies for undergraduate students at Fresno State with Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key. The local chapter was founded at Fresno State in 2010 and is among 330 chapters at undergraduate institutions throughout the country. The current president is Kiran Gill, an electrical engineering major, and the chapter adviser is Dr. Saeed Attar, chemistry professor and director of the Smittcamp Family Honors College.
