The official book launch for Tim Z. Hernandez’s book “All They Will Call You” will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Satellite Student Union at Fresno State. The free, public event will feature a reading by the author, book signing and special guest appearances. “All They Will Call You” reconstructs the 1948 Los Gatos airplane crash that resulted in the death of 32 people, including 29 Mexican immigrants who were being deported. Using testimonies, historical records and eyewitness accounts, Hernandez gives an identity to the lives lost in the crash and tells the story of the Mexican passengers. The book launch is co-sponsored by The Valley Public History Initiative: Preserving our Stories, the Chicanx Writers and Artists Association, the College of Arts and Humanities and the Chicano and Latin American Studies Department.
