Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro will join about 1,500 students from more than 100 student clubs and organizations as part of this year’s Kids Day fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, when they try to help reach a record goal of $625,000 to benefit Valley Children’s Hospital.

President Castro joins students, employees for Kids Day

The campus effort in the Valley-wide drive is led by the Jan and Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning and supported by many student organizations including the Associated Students, Inc. The Richter Center has set a goal of surpassing last year’s record-breaking $46,000 collected by Fresno State students through the one-day fundraiser.

The annual drive to benefit Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera brings friendly competition to campus as student clubs vie to sell the most newspapers at intersections across the area. Castro will join other local dignitaries and officials from 7 to 8 a.m. at the “Celebrity Corner” on Blackstone and Shaw avenues.
