The Fresno State Community Health Mobile Unit returns for the spring semester with a stop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at D&H Distributing in Fresno (3701 S. Minnewawa Ave.). This is the first of nearly 20 stops the health mobile unit will make in Fresno County throughout the semester. Residents can receive free health services like diabetes and blood pressure screenings, assessments, education and referrals. Free flu shots, for ages 4 and up, are available and limited to the first 50 individuals. Through the health mobile unit, students majoring in nursing, athletic training and dietetics are able to provide free, affordable health care services to underserved areas in Fresno County. This gives undergraduate and graduate level students an opportunity to gain experience working in rural communities while practicing their clinical skills and working as an interdisciplinary health care team. Last semester, the mobile unit made 30 stops in Fresno County and treated 1,089 patients. INFO: School of Nursing at 559.278.2041.
