The German Club presents the first film in the German Film Series lineup for the spring semester. Based on the bestselling German satirical novel “Look Who’s Back” (“Er ist wieder da,” 2015), this film adaptation is a critical look at contemporary society. “Look Who’s Back” (in German with English subtitles) will be shown from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 21, in ED 176. The film will be preceded by a German club social, with light snacks and beverages, from 4-5 p.m., also in Education Building, Room 176. Dr. Amila Becirbegovic, assistant professor of German and Ethnic Humanities in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures and adviser to the German Club, will give a short lecture about refugee politics and German history, followed by a question-and-answer session. “Look Who’s Back” (not rated, 1 hour and 56 minutes) explores contemporary issues, such as immigration and refugee politics, through the lens of Germany’s National Socialist past. The German Club will screen another film in April.
