Fresno State volunteers raised $41,338 on March 6 for Valley Children’s Hospital Kids Day. The volunteers, primarily Fresno State students, sold The Fresno Bee newspapers from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at intersections across the Central Valley and campus, with many groups staking out corners the day before.

“Each year I am amazed at the amount of Fresno State volunteers who get up early on a Tuesday morning to sell newspapers and raise money for Valley Children’s Hospital. It is a great reminder of the commitment Fresno State makes to support our local community,” said Taylan Bennett, special projects coordinator for the Jan and Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning at Fresno State.

In total, the 30th annual Kids Day raised $627,696 for Valley Children’s.

The Fresno State volunteers represented more than 60 clubs and organizations. The Fresno State Army ROTC collected more than $8,000 to lead the groups. Volunteers from several campus offices, including Enrollment Services and University Police, also contributed to the day’s success.
