The National Society of Collegiate Scholars recognized Fresno State as a Gold Star Chapter for 2017-18. The society provides career and graduate-school connections, leadership and service opportunities and awards $1 million in scholarships annually. Members must have a minimum of 3.4 GPA in their first year of college. The local chapter was founded at Fresno State in 2010 and is among 330 chapters at undergraduate institutions throughout the country. The current chapter president is Jasmeet Gill and the chapter adviser is Dr. Saeed Attar, chemistry professor and director of the Smittcamp Family Honors College.
