CineCulture will present “The Judge” at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21. The post-screening discussion will be led by director Erika Cohn. In “The Judge,” a young lawyer named Kholoud Al-Faqih is laughed at when she walks into the office of Palestine’s Chief Justice and asks to join the bench. However, a few years later, Kholoud becomes the first female judge to be appointed to the Middle East’s Shari’a (Islamic law) courts. “The Judge” offers a unique portrait of Judge Kholoud. Sponsors include Kamal and Aimee Abu-Shamsieh and Muslim Spiritual Care Services. The free screening will be held in the Peters Education Center Auditorium, west of Save Mart Center in the Student Recreation Center Building. Parking is free after 4 p.m. on Fridays. CineCulture is a film series provided as a service to Fresno State students, faculty and staff, and the community.
