The Fresno State Bulldoggers club rodeo team will host the West Coast’s top collegiate rodeo competitors at the Fresno State College Rodeo, March 8 through March 9, at the Clovis Rodeo Grounds (748 Rodeo Drive). The team’s only home event of the season starts with a Friday evening opening round from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday’s slack round from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. features the remaining competitors in all 10 men’s and women’s events. The top 10 combined qualifiers from the first two rounds will compete Saturday in the championship round from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The competition features 15 other collegiate teams. Fresno State currently ranks 14th nationally in the men’s team rankings and first in the region after the fall season’s two events. Three Fresno State men’s team members rank third individually in the region including returning College National Finals Rodeo qualifiers and seniors Colton Campbell (tie down roping) and Rial Engelhart (all-around, steer wrestling) and freshman Reed Neely (saddle bronc riding).

Two Fresno State women’s competitors also rank top seven in regional standings for barrel racing (freshman Hailey Wilbur, fifth) and team roping header (junior Cassi Wilkerson, seventh). Admission is $10 for each session on Friday and Saturday evening, $5 for Fresno State students with a campus ID and free to youth ages 12 and younger. Saturday morning’s slack session is free.
