The Latino/a Programs and Services at Fresno State will host the Cesar E. Chavez Celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the Fresno State Peace Garden next to the Henry Madden Library.

This celebration will commemorate his life and his work advocating for farm workers. The celebration will begin at 11:15 a.m. with a performance from Fresno State’s Aztec Dance Club, followed by a performance from Fresno State’s folkloric Mexican dance troupe, Los Danzantes de Aztlán.

The event will also include a welcome announcement made by Ofelia Gamez and Dr. Francine Oputa; a historical overview of the United Farm Workers March made by Roberto Bustos, march leader; opening remarks made by Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro and Dr. Frank Lamas, vice president of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management; a keynote speech from Paul Chavez, son of Cesar E. Chavez; a performance by Fresno State Mariachi, and more.
