Costa Rican director and filmmaker Hilda Hidalgo Xirinachs will host a discussion following the CineCulture screening of “Violeta Al Fin” at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, in the Peters Education Center Auditorium in the Student Recreation Center Building.

“Violeta Al Fin” tells the story of Violeta, a 72-year-old woman, who lives alone in her childhood home in the heart of San Jose, Costa Rica, after divorcing her husband of more than 40 years. When she discovers the bank is about to take away her house, she decides to fight and breaks all the rules to hold onto her home and her freedom.

The film is in Spanish with English subtitles. Parking is free in lots P3 and P2. The screening is sponsored by the Fresno State Department of Chicano and Latin American Studies.
