The Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology is hosting more than 70 dairy industry members from around the nation and Canada at the Brown Swiss Association national convention in Fresno through Friday, June 14 to 16. The association’s annual meeting is at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Satellite Student Union. An awards luncheon at 11 a.m. at the campus animal science pavilion (Woodrow and Barstow) and national convention sale at 2 p.m. close the conference.

The breed is one of the most popular in the world and is known for its ability to adapt well to hot and cold climates. Brown Swiss cows can produce large quantities of milk with a unique fat-to-protein ratio that can also be ideal for cheesemaking.

The association, which was established in 1880, registers 10,000 cattle per year and has a membership of approximately 1,800 combined adult and junior members. Registration is still open online and in-person at Wednesday’s welcome event. INFO: Luz Mendoza, 559.278.7135. luzmendoza@mail.fresnostate.edu.
