Over $4 million in grant funding has been awarded to nearly 30 dairy companies by the Pacific Coast Coalition Dairy Business Initiative, hosted by Fresno State. Awardees span four states and will receive between $1,500 and $1 million for innovation and sustainability-related investments, including equipment and training.

Among the eight California grant recipients from the nation’s leading dairy state, three are located in the Central Valley: Rocky Oaks Goat Creamery (Clovis), Rumiano Cheese (Willows) and WonderCow (Madera), and two more are located on the Central Coast: Leo Leo Gelato (Paso Robles) and Stepladder Creamery (Cambria).

In addition, the Pacific Coast Coalition Dairy Business Initiative is opening a new round of funding for equipment with online applications accepted from Aug. 1 to Sept. 29. The initiative is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and also includes support by Cal Poly Humboldt, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Chapman University, Chico State, Oregon State University, University of California at Davis, Washington State University and the California Dairy Innovation Center.
