Fresno State is ranked in the top tier of the 2023 Economic Mobility Index published by Third Way, which compares universities nationwide that offer a strong return on investment for students with the greatest financial need.
Rather than giving institutions a numeric ranking this year, the Washington D.C.-based think tank chose to cluster institutions into five tiers to highlight the great work happening on campuses nationwide. Tier 1 represents the top 20% of about 1,400 institutions evaluated. Fresno State and most of the California State University campuses are ranked in the top.
The report highlighted the CSU’s Graduation 2025 initiative, focused on addressing barriers to student success and closing equity gaps, as one of many ways that the top-ranking institutions are helping students to complete their degree.
