Fresno State’s seventh Day of Giving wrapped up Nov. 2 at Fresno State, and preliminary results from the online fundraising effort show that community support increased in all key metrics compared to last year.

According to initial results, 1,852 Fresno State alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends donated to help support colleges, schools or programs that drive their passion, a 5.29% increase over last year.

This year’s number of gifts came to 2,475, a 2.5% increase from 2022. These gifts show how far the Bulldog network extends, coming from 42 states and seven countries, both numbers growing in comparison to 2022 (39 and four, respectively).

Brady Crook, the new vice president for University Advancement, started on the job just seven weeks before Day of Giving.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with this year’s Day of Giving,” Crook said. “Day of Giving is about supporting student success at Fresno State and deepening a culture of philanthropy on campus and throughout our community. This year’s results are a testament to the tremendous support Fresno State receives from the community.”

Preliminary estimates show that philanthropic partners contributed almost $471,000 toward student success, a 2.43% increase over last year.

The purpose of Day of Giving has always been about engagement and giving at every level with the message that every gift matters. This year also focused on engaging new philanthropic partners to join the greater Fresno State community to show collective impact.

The seventh annual Day of Giving took place from midnight through 11:59 p.m. Nov. 2. The online fundraising campaign encouraged philanthropic partners to make a gift to one of Fresno State’s eight schools and colleges, athletics or the campus division or program of their choice.

There were 20 giving areas to support, or philanthropic partners could select “other” and type in the area of their choice.

All funds raised will be used for programs and initiatives to help fulfill Fresno State’s mission to educate and empower our students for success. Donations directly benefit students with scholarships, internship programs, research and improved learning spaces.

A live leaderboard tracked the number of gifts and money raised throughout the day, providing minute-by-minute updates on the campaign’s website, https://dayofgiving.fresnostate.edu.

Fresno State’s Day of Giving began in 2017 as part of a growing national trend for dedicated giving days that have become popular at many universities across the nation. Since it began, Day of Giving has raised more than $3.3 million.
