In honor of Women’s History Month, Fresno City Councilmember Tyler Maxwell honored Shawna Blair, coordinator of major events and staff development for Fresno State’s Student Involvement Center, as District 4’s Woman of the Year. Fresno State is part of District 4.

“While she has a lot of duties and responsibilities under her belt,” Maxwell said, “you probably know her work best if you’ve ever been to one of the following Fresno State events: Vintage Days, commencement, homecoming and Fresno State Welcome Week. These events attract tens of thousands of community members each and every year. Many of these events empower Fresno State students with leadership skills, allowing them to plan and coordinate many aspects of these large events.”

Blair was one of eight women honored by the City of Fresno as part of Women’s History Month. Each councilmember and Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer honored one recipient. The women were recognized Wednesday afternoon as trailblazers in the community with a reception at Fresno City Hall.
