Fresno State has a number of upcoming summer camps for children of all ages, offered by various colleges and divisions on campus. 

Arts and Humanities – FOOSA Half-Day

Target age group: Ages 5-18

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 9-23

Cost: Application Fee: $75, Tuition Fee: $595

String musicians accepted into this program enjoy daily group lessons with our outstanding faculty, as well as sectionals and orchestra/ensemble rehearsals. They will perform in student recitals and in the final concert at the Saroyan Theater. Be sure to register no later than April 1 for scholarship consideration and for our early-bird discount! we allow registration in our half-day program until June 1. FOOSA Half-Day Program participants are welcome at all additional FOOSA activities each day. The FOOSA Philharmonic is a pre-professional orchestra that allows advanced musicians of college and a select number of exceptionally advanced younger pre-college students to enjoy a side-by-side performance experience with outstanding faculty members. This year’s program features Szymanowski’s Concert Overture and Mahler’s Symphony No. 7. Musicians accepted into this program enjoy daily private lessons, daily orchestra rehearsals and sectionals, recital opportunities, concerto competition and performances at the Fresno State Concert Hall, Saroyan Theater and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Continuing and Global Education — Summer reading skills program

Target age group(s): pre-K through 10th grade

Five-week programs in June/July. Times and dates vary by age group.

Fresno State’s Division of Continuing and Global Education offers summer reading skills programs designed and taught by instructors from the Institute of Reading Development. These single-grade programs teach key reading skills, from phonics and sight words for younger children to comprehension, reading speed and textbook strategies for older kids, and everything in between. Guided by a knowledgeable and supportive teacher, students in these programs experience success with reading repeatedly, developing their skills, and building confidence in outstanding books at the right level of challenge for each age. This helps children avoid the many challenges of summer learning loss and become avid readers. Programs will be offered on-campus at Fresno State and the Visalia campus. Additional information

Craig School of Business — BOLD (Business Opportunity Learning by Doing) CAMP

Target age group(s) — Fresno Unified high school students (preferably juniors or seniors)

The Fresno Unified School District’s Office of College and Career Readiness, in partnership with the Craig School of Business at Fresno State, has received a grant to host high school students from Fresno Unified in Fresno State dorms and provide them with a college experience, sharing with them about Fresno State admission requirements, Craig School of Business majors and options, experiential learning opportunities and business career paths. This opportunity is hosted by Fresno State’s Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the College Assistance Migrant Program at no cost to the students. Register here.

Craig School of Business — Summer Accelerator 

Target age group(s) — Fresno Unified high school students (preferably juniors or seniors) 

Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays June 11-27

Cost: Free

The Summer Accelerator is designed to provide 40 high school students with an opportunity to develop their own business ideas. The goal is to empower student entrepreneurs to vet their ideas, engage in customer discovery, learn the tips and tricks of entrepreneurship, and try their hands at obtaining funding by pitching their idea. Craig School of Business — Sweet Potato Project 

Target age group(s) — 12-18 years old

July through August

Cost: Free

The Sweet Potato Project provides participants an opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial and business skills while engaging in team building and leadership development skills. Program participants learn how to create a business and a marketing plan for turning sweet potatoes into marketable products. The program culminates in a pitch competition where student teams compete for prizes in front of a panel of judges. Register here

Health and Human Services — Sports science camp

Target age group(s): High school students

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 11-13 

Cost: Free

Hosted by the Department of Kinesiology and the Central California Sports Science Institute at Fresno State, the Sports Science Camp is a three-day immersive program where students will actively learn about careers in kinesiology through hands-on experiences in physical education, exercise sciences, athletic training and sport psychology. Lyles College of Engineering — Engineering camps

Target age group(s): Various ages

The Lyles College of Engineering will hold five-day camps in June and July for students of all grades. The camps will feature hands-on engineering, architectural studies and construction management activities that showcase multiple disciplines and applications. Student Affairs and Enrollment Management — Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Program

Target age group(s): 10th and 11th graders

The Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project offers various leadership programs to develop students’ political and cultural awareness and prepare them for college. Students have an opportunity to connect with education, business, political, and community leaders and receive encouragement in their pursuit of postsecondary educational opportunities. Central Valley students can apply to one of our summer programs free of charge. The Central Valley Institute will be held June 14-16 at the Fresno State campus.
