The Maddy Institute and California Water Institute at Fresno State will hold a one-day ag summit focused on how water users coexist in California from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Resnick Student Union at Fresno State.

This event will bring together stakeholders from across the state to discuss pressing issues and foster collaborative solutions. The summit is also available to attend virtually.

“We are excited to partner with the California Water Institute for our second annual Agriculture Summit,” said Blake Zante, director of the Maddy Institute. “This year, attendees will be able to listen to a wide range of panel discussions and keynote speakers about the development of collaborative policy solutions to support California’s agricultural, urban and environmental water users.”

The summit, designed as an open house style event, aims to facilitate meaningful dialogue among water users, policymakers, researchers and community and industry leaders. The event will feature keynote speakers Karen Ross, secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, and Wade Crowfoot, California’s secretary of natural resources. In addition, a diverse lineup of panelists will offer insights into the latest research, policy developments and practical solutions in water resource management.

Key topics to be explored include Sustainable Groundwater Management Act implementation, data transparency in water management, advancements in water storage and conveyance infrastructure, and the importance of building alliances across diverse interest groups to achieve sustainable water use.

“Water users across California, representing a diverse range of interests, have been working together more and more over recent years,” said Laura Ramos, interim director of the California Water Institute. “The California Water Institute is happy to partner with the Maddy Institute for this event to share some of these stories of collaboration and progress.”

Registration for the ag summit, both in-person and virtual, is free and open to the public. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to in-person attendees. For more information and to register, visit https://cvent.me/9qndKy.
