The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the members of the inaugural Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority-Serving Institutions Federal Advisory Council. Fresno State President Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval will serve as a co-vice chair of the council, joining 20 leaders from across the nation in a two-year term.

As a representative, Jiménez-Sandoval will represent the interests of large, public Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander-serving institutions and Hispanic-serving institutions.

The EPA established the council to provide advice and recommendations to the agency on how to leverage Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority-Serving Institutions to help diversity the agency’s workforce, nurture the next generation of environmental leaders and ensure these institutions have the resources and support to continue to thrive for generations to come.
