The Fresno State Transportation Institute will hold its second annual railroad model competition from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Satellite Student Union

Student teams from nine Fresno County schools will demonstrate their railroad track models, presentations and reports during the competition. The competition will also show the teams’ creativity in designing their railroad track models in a way that is fuel and cost efficient, with minimum time travelled.

The competition is divided into three divisions: upper-elementary, middle and high school. The Transportation Institute designed the railroad model competition to be an accessible and enjoyable educational experience, helping students and teachers to build a better future in transportation sciences. All teams received various modes of support including professional mentors and coaches, information sessions, instruction manuals, video tutorials, competition guides and more.
