The Fresno Community Chorus will hold auditions for new singers, all voice parts, beginning in August at the Concert Hall in the Music Building at California State University, Fresno.

Interested individuals are invited to prepare a short piece to sing and to bring sheet music for the audition.

The Fresno Community Chorus is directed by Dr. Anna Hamre, an associate professor of music at Fresno State.

This year’s season includes performances of John Rutter’s “Requiem” and the rarely performed “St. Matthew Passion” by Johann Sebastian Bach. The concert repertoire also includes a children’s concert featuring Rutter’s “The Reluctant Dragon.”

As it has the past several years, the Community Chorus again will participate in the winter holiday concert of the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra at the William Saroyan Theatre.

In addition to its regular concert season, the chorus has touring opportunities with performances in Carnegie Hall in New York next April and in Vienna and Prague in June.

Regular rehearsals are 7:30-9:40 p.m.Tuesdays beginning Aug. 26.
