Dr. Ronald Dangaran, program director for educational learning at Alliant International University, Fresno, will discuss “The Origins and Traditions of the Local Filipino Community” on Friday, April 8, 2005, at the Friends of the Madden Library program.

Dangaran has been involved in the California educational system since 1955, when he began as an elementary school teacher for the Fresno Unified School District and was promoted to principal. He held District administrative positions including Human Relations Director,

Certified Personnel Director, and Area Administrator. He served on the Board of Education in the District and as Superintendent for the Merced City School District. Dangaran earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts degree from Fresno State. He received a Doctor of Education degree from University of the Pacific.

Throughout his career, Dangaran has been involved with the Filipino American Educators Association of California, which awarded him its “Outstanding Achievement Award” in 1990. In

1994, he received the Filipino American National Historical Society Award for “Significant Contributions to the Filipino American Experience in the Category of Education.
