The Incredible Edible Car Contest will be held at California State University, Fresno on Friday, Oct. 30.

The festivities — featuring eight student design teams from Fresno State’s School of Engineering and Computer Science — will compete from 1 to 2 p.m. on the patio of the Kennel Bookstore, located just north of the Memorial Fountain.

The teams, consisting of five to seven students from the critical thinking course Geomatics Engineering (GME) 5 will compete in two categories: the speed/distance and the “most distinctive” car. A panel of judges from the community will determine the winners in the second category.

Dr. Fareed Nader, professor and contest organizer, explained that except for the bamboo skewer axles, the cars are constructed solely of edible items.
