Judge Cynthia George will be the keynote speaker at the Multicultural Student Leadership Conference on Friday, April 30, in the Satellite Student Union at California State University, Fresno.

The conference, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. is part of the university’s Diversity Week now underway and is free to the public. George is an administrative judge for the State of California in Fresno.

Carole Snee, interim executive director of Student Life, said the conference would bring together 200 students from area high schools and Fresno State for an opportunity to identify barriers to leadership opportunities that diverse students may experience.

“Students will also share successful examples of multicultural leadership and develop ideas to bring about multicultural leadership in schools and in the community,” she said.

The conference will also feature a presentation by writer Juan Felipe Herrera, a Chicano Studies professor at Fresno State.
