The student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management in the Craig School of Business at California State University, Fresno has been named 2000-2001 Superior Merit Award Winner with top honors by the National Society for Human Resource Management.

The award was the result of Fresno State’s perfect score in national competition which had 119 entries. It is the second time the chapter has won the award.

The merit award was based on year-long student chapter activities, including establishing mentoring programs and job shadowing programs, completing a research project and community service projects. Also judged were how the chapter developed and sponsored workshops, provided speakers for chapter meetings, created and updated a Web page, prepared newsletters and worked with the sponsoring local chapter, Human Resource Association of Central California.

The Fresno State chapter has 30 members under the supervision of advisers Diane Decker, Dr. Julie Olson-Buchanan, and Dr. Mark Keppler.
