The Central Valley Health Policy Institute (CVHPI) at Fresno State is accepting applications through April 15 for the 2008-09 Health Policy Leadership Program. The program:

· seeks to increase regional capacity to create and implement effective health and health care initiatives

· builds community capacity in an intimate, highly interactive and secure learning environment

· views health care challenges from a social change perspective

The Health Policy Leadership Program is led by nationally and internationally recognized thinkers and educators who are experienced in sharing the most in-depth, leading insights on leadership development, collaboration and capacity building. The program, in its fourth year, links participants from past and current cohorts, forming a strong network of regional leaders.

Ten one-day sessions (Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 2008 to April 2009) are held on the California State University, Fresno campus.

Applicants may include individuals from diverse walks of life and personal backgrounds and all people who are caring advocates who would like to increase their capacity to influence changes in their organizations and communities.

CVHPI is committed to facilitating the development of health and health care policies and programs in the San Joaquin Valley. Current policy research and technical assistance priorities include uninsured and inadequately insured adults, health professional shortages and environmental influences on health.
