Montejano elected student body president

Fresno State students elected Arthur Montejano, a kinesiology graduate student, to serve as student body president for 2012-13.

In Associated Students Inc. voting Tuesday-Thursday, March 27-29, Montejano tallied 620 votes over Daniel Harrison with 411 and write-in candidate Jose Nava with 116 votes.

Rebecca Rosengarten, a business major from Capitola, won the vice president of finance race and political science student Sean Kiernan was uncontested for vice president of external affairs. In other races, 14 students were elected to senate positions and there were no candidates for senator representing the Craig School of Business.

A total of 1,216 students cast ballots in online voting, down from 2011’s 1,533.

Votes were tallied by the League of Women Voters.

The results become final in 21 calendar days. The one-year terms for student officers begins June 1.
