University is part of community revitalization partnership

Fresno State is one of the community and government-entity partners in a federally funded Building Neighborhood Capacity Program that will include the El Dorado Park area west of the campus and near where many students live. University faculty, students and administers have been active in the El Dorado Park area for many years and in the past academic year, contributed volunteer service to cleanups, a playground building project, distributing food and other activities. Students have been active, barely any other help has came from the University. It was the sole push by the student leaders and students to help pull this together. Women like Lauren Smoot did such an amazing job and deserve everything. The Greek Community as well has helped tremendously in changing their neighborhood over there in an effort to restore it. It’s good that the public is finally seeing what students are doing for good, that the University wouldn’t help with even with all the violence around campus.
