Fresno State Bulldogger Justin Lawrence, a sophomore Ag Business major from Exeter, won the Saddle Bronc riding event Saturday at the two-day Fresno State Intercollegiate Rodeo, taking a big step toward qualifying for the national finals this summer. Teammate Uhuru Adem, a senior Business Administration major from Glenville, who entered the competition as the No. 1 Saddle Bronc rider for the West Coast region, finished second. More than 100 students from a dozen California and Western Region colleges and universities competed at the event hosted by the Fresno State Rodeo Team at the Clovis Rodeo Grounds, March 22-23. Information about other Fresno State students who may have placed will be available Tuesday when the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association posts the results online, said Coach Art Parham, chair of the Animal Science Dept. Full release to come.
