Fresno State’s CineCulture fall semester films series begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, with a screening and discussion of “Besa” at the Leon S. and Pete P. Peters Educational Center in the Student Recreation Center (Woodrow and Shaw avenues). The film tells the story of Albanian Muslims who sheltered Jews during the Holocaust and the legacy of these little-known acts of cross-cultural compassion and courage. The guest discussant will be Christine Romero, producer and editor of “Besa.” Co-sponsors for the screening will include the Fresno State Cineculture Club, the Jewish Studies Certificate program, the Jewish Studies Association and several others (see links). The event is free and open to the public. INFO: Dr. Mary Husain, instructor and club adviser, at mhusain@csufresno.edu.
