EspinozaDr. Alex Espinoza, professor of Creative Writing in the Department of English, won an American Book Award for his novel “The Five Acts of Diego Leon.” The awards will be presented Oct. 26 in San Francisco. The awards celebrate multiculturalism and free expression and are given by the Before Columbus Foundation, a nonprofit founded by author-playwright Ishmael Reed. Past recipients of this award include authors like Sandra Cisneros, Toni Morrison, Rudolfo Anaya, and the Central Valley’s own Tim Z. Hernandez.  Full release to come.
