The Most People Opening a Candy Simultaneously (Candy Cause Project) event from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Fresno State Maple Mall will include a moment of silence at 2 p.m. in observance of “National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.”

The observance will be at the university’s main flag poles at the Rose Garden Veterans Memorial Monument south of the Thomas Administration Building near the Maple Mall.

The public is invited to the free event where a team from the Strategic Marketing 188 class hope 1,000 participants will help break the Guinness Book of World Record of 817 people simultaneously unwrapping a candy.

Candy will be provided with the line-up beginning at about 1:30 p.m.

The event includes Santa’s Village with food and beverage booths, live radio broadcasting, music, carnival-inspired games, and face painting booths. Pictures with Santa will start at 1 p.m. and cost $1, although the photo fee may be waived with a donation of canned food to benefit the Bulldog Pantry.

At 3 pm., there will be a raffle drawing and silent auction as the preliminary results of the attempt will be announced. The evidence will then be submitted to Guinness for final validation.
