Dr. Michael Caldwell, associate vice president for faculty affairs, will leave Fresno State in May to become senior director for academic personnel at the CSU Office of the Chancellor in Long Beach. The Fresno State alumnus has been in his current position since July 2012. After earning a bachelor’s degree in music in 1984, he returned to Fresno State in 2002 as an assistant professor in the Department of Music and served as its chair from 2010-12. He was vice chair of the Academic Senate from 2007-10 and chair from 2010-12. He has also served as a member and chair of the board for University High School and as a member of the President’s Commission for Human Rights and Equity. He received the 2010 Provost’s Award for Faculty Service and the California Music Educators Association 2010 President’s Award Honoring Extraordinary Accomplishments in Music Education. Dr. Lynnette Zelezny, provost and vice president for academic affairs, said a search to fill his position will begin immediately.
