Taste of Vino event nets $40,000 for Petrucci Library; presentation Oct. 23

Vino & Friends Wine Bistro owners Chuck and Jen Van Fleet will present a $40,000 donation to the V.E. Petrucci Library at Fresno State at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23. Dr. Joseph I. Castro, Fresno State president, and Dr. Vince Petrucci, professor and director emeritus of viticulture who founded the University’s viticulture and enology programs, will receive the check at the Viticulture and Enology Research Center (2360 E. Barstow Ave., east of the Fresno State Winery). The California State University conferred an honorary doctorate on Petrucci in 1994. The funds were raised at the Taste of Vino event in August when 850 guests enjoyed food and wine to benefit the on-campus Petrucci Library. The event also commemorated Petrucci’s 90th birthday.
